Yesterday was Monday...all..day..long! I like to ease back into the work week, but sometimes it requires jumping right back in with both feet running at full speed.
It was a stressful day and on my ride home from work, I was thinking about the day and reflecting on the people I came in contact with and the difficulty of some of the situations. Sometimes when we're having a bad day, anything and everything will go wrong. When it rains, it pours, right?
Well, yesterday was that kind of day. I thought when I made it to lunch, that things would get better after a chicken salad sandwich from Zaxby's. I sat in the drive-thru line and waited my turn to order, only to realize when I got to the window to pay, they were only accepting cash :( Their debit card machine wasn't working and I didn't have any cash, so there went my sandwich. Thankfully, I didn't take my frustrations out on the cashier, but after all of that, I was starving so I went to one of the first places I saw.....Wendy's. I really did not need a cheese burger. But I gave in to my frustrations and settled for something quick and easy....and unhealthy.
To top things off, I was late leaving work, and then, on the way home, I apparently ran over a dead skunk or something. My entire car smelled like it for I don't know how long! Speaking of skunks, it's been years since I've seen one. Are they almost extinct or something? I wouldn't have a problem with that!
But I finally made it home to my little haven from the world. I was listening to some music on the way, and I heard a song that really spoke to my heart and encouraged me. It's pretty new on the radio- Your Grace Finds Me by Matt Redman. We actually heard it the first time at Passion City Church. We were up there visiting Dillan one weekend a few months ago and Matt was leading worship there that morning and sang it.
It's a beautiful song with a beautiful message about God's grace. As I listened to the song, I was thankful for the reminder that even on those days when I'm too busy and distracted to focus on Christ like I should, He doesn't lose His focus on me. He sees all that I go through - He sees the 'Mondays' of my life.
He sees my struggles and my tears. My victories and my cheers. His grace finds me where I am. Because of that, I can breathe in His grace and breathe out His praise! I can claim victory over my circumstances and allow Him to help me see things from His perspective.
I don't know about you, but I'm so thankful for God's grace....on Mondays and every day.
